Miss Management

A most interesting day in the life of a scrapstore owner today. There have been shenanigans galore at work, which have left us all rather open-mouthed in disbelief!

Let me introduce you to the key players in today's scenes:

Bimbo - incompetent blond woman who has somehow managed to be appointed as the Manager of the whole Directorate. Alternatively known as Rottweiler, or Hairdresser's Receptionist.

Upstart - the Bimbo's secretary. This is another incompetent, whose job role seems to have changed somewhat in a very disturbing manner - more on that later.

First off, Jenny notices that a big filing cabinet has inexplicably disappeared from one of our offices. Investigations revealed that said cabinet had been taken by the Bimbo's Secretary and given to one of the med secs at the other end of the building. So I ring the office where the cabinet is and am told that no, we can't have it back because they need it - it's full of notes and they have nowhere else to put them. Point out that Phil has turned a funny shade of purple and is jumping up and down, so sorry but we're coming to get it back. Unfortunately, Upstart is away for the rest of the week, so after we despatched Charlie to go and get it back, Jenny sent a very stroppy e-mail to Upstart, copied to Bimbo - along the lines of 'how DARE you take something without asking'.

Further digging this afternoon revealed that Upstart told the girls in the office to just get rid of the stuff that was already in the cabinet (important scan pictures etc) as 'no-one uses it'. Oh boy, is she going to have a pleasant return to work next week - NOT!

As well as the filing cabinet incident, further evidence has emerged to support our theory that Bimbo has yet again flouted the rules regarding recruitment, meaning Upstart has all of a sudden been promoted from mere secretary to admin support manager, with responsibility for all the admin and clerical staff in the division. This seems to be a new post, but funnily enough no-one has seen it advertised. Yet another example of how management just do what the hell they want. However, we're not taking this lying down - collectively the staff are keeping notes of each and every balls-up they make, and there are many. This can all be used against them at some point in the future. Vindictive? No - the morale of the staff has plummeted recently, due in no small part to the total lack of support for anyone from management. All we want is someone who will take our service forward, not someone who is going to be allowed to grind it into the dirt.

But hey, we know all about 'managers' who can't do the jobs they're paid to do, right?
